Rand Robinson 2 seat project United Kingdom
The Rand Robinson is a small 2 seat side by side composite built tailwheel aircraft resembling a P51 Mustang.
Construction is of spruce, birch, polystyrene foam and glass fibre with metal fittings.
It has a wing span of just 22ft and is normally is fitted with a converted VW air-cooled engine and retractable undercarriage that gives it a cruise speed in the region of 140 mph.
Some examples have been built with fixed undercarriage.
All woodwork, fuselage, spars, ribs etc have been completed to high standard and signed off by LAA engineer.
Metal fittings including control bell cranks, hinges etc complete have also been made.
New Perpex canopy, blank instrument panel, glass fibre turtledeck, upper and lower engine cowlings, undercarriage, wheels, brakes, tyres and tubes as well as tailwheel.
All the completed components need to be assembled in sufficient space then to block foam and sheath the entire aircraft in glass fibre or Kevlar.
Low time VW air cooled 4 cyl available for conversion if required as extra.
Reluctant sale due to advancing age of 73 means it is not realistic that I would have sufficient time to complete it and then fly it.
Also I already have a Comanche that I fly and a second Comanche that I am currently re-building.
All drawings and instructions are included as well as logbook.
