Courses taking place in March 2018
AVIATION FIRST AID
Saturday 17th March 2018 (1 place left!)
As well as gaining a recognised qualification in Emergency First Aid, certified as a FAA (First Aid Award) Level 3 training course and is valid for three. This practical course is especially tailored to operations of aircraft and working on airfields.
You will learn about the following topics, including participating in practical elements:
- Situation assessment.
- Response levels & observation charts.
- Airway management, including restrictions.
- Resuscitation Adult CPR.
- Dealing with Epilepsy
- Differences between heart attack & cardiac arrest.
- Use of the AED (Automatic External Defibrillator).
- Dressing of wounds.
- Correct use of Tourniquets.
- Haemostatic bandages and powders (for dealing with bleeds).
- Minor burns and scalds.
- Anaphylactic shock.
- Specifics to the aviation environment (airside and in the air).

Delivered with flying in mind by giving specific examples and scenarios. We have taken topics and applied them to the aviation environment. The course will consider places such as aircraft hangars/workshops (used for inspections, storage and maintenance) as well as general airfield operations for clubs and flying schools, generally covering all aspects of airfield life and the types of issues that can occur.
