A fantastic opportunity to become the owner of the only airworthy Sonerai 2 in the UK. G-BMIS was originally built in Hong Kong by a Cathay Pacific pilot based there. The original plan to fly the aircraft in Hong Kong was scuppered when the CAA refused permission. Built in 1988 the aircraft has only flown 13 hours. Due to the long period of inactivity it has had the following work done:-
The fuselage was stripped of all the fabric, the steel tube frame checked for condition and the powder coating checked for integrity, all was found to be in good condition.
The frame was then recovered using Ceconite and finished in silver 2 pack.
The wings were checked for corrosion and found to be in good condition.
The engine a Revmaster 2100 was completely dismantled and checked for any signs of corrosion, as a result new con rods complete with bearings were fitted by Revmaster in the USA along with a ring gear on the crankshaft to allow a starter motor to be fitted.
The engine was reassembled complete with starter motor, alternator and Leburg ignition.
Although technically a two-seat aircraft, with full fuel there is 260 Lbs available for pilot and passenger.
Fitted with a Prince P tip propeller the aircraft has a ground roll of around 300m and a cruise of 115mph.
Cruising at 12 litre/hour and with the ability to fold the wings for cheap storage, G-BMIS represents very cost effective flying.
Permit expires October 2016
