G-LREE is a 1984 Grob 109B motorglider kept for the last 12 years at Denham near west London. We are looking to add 1-2 members with the retirement expected soon of one of our syndicate.
The plane is in excellent condition, benefitting from a refurb a few years ago including a reorganised instrument panel, new leather seats, and a Garmin 695 and mode S transponder. We have a new Cambrai cover, and wing covers for winter. She flies 'on condition' with 4252 hours airframe and 3073 total engine hours, 1295 since last overhaul.
Conversion of licenses to include taildragging and motorglider ratings is strait forward in the opinion of the author. It pays off as the plane only consumer a maximum of 15 litres per hour, and averages much less in cruise. And she coast with no engine when you are gliding! Our fuel bills are a small percentage of our costs.
We are looking for 12k for a quarter share, 16k for a third depending on whether we find 1 or 2 people to join. Annual costs are estimated 2,000 pounds per year on a one-third basis, plus fuel, or under 200 pounds a month.
