I am putting up for sale my Piper J3C Cub, built in 1941, completely restored by previous owners in 2000 (pictures of the restoration available). This Cub operates on an LAA Permit to Fly, current permit runs to May 2020.
Since I purchased her in 2018 we have overhauled the Continental A65, including new piston rings, new plugs, new HT leads, repairs to exhaust manifolds. All engine work carried out by licensed engineer. The crank case was not opened.
Fitted with a beautiful Hercules wooden prop, approx 3 years old and in perfect condition.
We also fitted an MGL 8.3KHz radio/intercom and a Trig transponder. The heads for these are mounted in the roof space with the modules mounted in the rear baggage area and run from a battery under the rear seat.
There is no electrical engine system on this Cub, so she is a hand-prop to start. The instrument panel is very original in form, I usually use a suction cup on the side window for navigation device.
The wing is fitted with an auxiliary tank, giving a total fuel capacity for the aircraft of 20 USG, around 3 1/2hrs endurance with reserve.
Total time on the airframe is 3,944hrs, TTSN on engine is 1,065hrs, 7hrs since refurbishment.
The paint and fabric is immaculate having benefited from being recovered in 2000 as part as a complete restoration. She has always been kept in a hanger since that time and I am including the Bruce’s cover shown in the pictures.
Full log books available and various invoices etc. The lift struts were replaced with the solid type.
