Minicab GY 201 Project for sale. £4,000 ONO
Originally factory built in 1952 at DE-Bearn, France, it was No. 8 off the production line. Currently registered in the UK as G-BCER, it last flew on the 23 August 2018 with the permit to fly expiring on July 2019. Logbooks indicate a total time on the air frame as 2,346 hours and on its second engine, 1,670 hours.
The wing has been separated from the fuselage and is stood on a rack ready for stripping and evaluation. The undercarriage legs have been removed, stripped, cleaned, etch primed and new rubber blocks sourced for the suspension. The fuselage has been fully stripped and is ready for repair work to begin. All metal work for the fuselage has been bead blasted and etch primed except for the canopy. The engine, an A65, has been de-corroded and sprayed with a matt silver 'Simonize' VHT paint. Prior to it's permit renewal in 2018, the 2 Eisemann AM-4 Magnetos were overhauled by 'Orchard Engineering Ltd.' and the Marvel-Schebler carburetor was overhauled by 'Nicholson McLaren Aviation'. It is estimated that the engine has run for a total of 7 hours since these overhauls, including its last flight from Lincolnshire to Fife, Scotland.
Included in the sale are:
A new set of M41E spark plugs, a new pair of stainless steel exhaust pipes, new gaskets and seals, engine rubber mounts, a new ASI with original Altimeter, Turn & Slip gyro and Magnetic compass, a hand held radio (ICOM IC-A24E with spare battery, charger and booklet) an RWG propeller, 3 sheets of plywood supplied by Swindon Timber and a complete set of poly-cotton hand made aircraft covers.
The Engine mount frame has been stripped clean and NDT checked. One weld join is cracked and needs re-welding. The main wheel hubs and Control Column have also been NDT checked – all good; and then etch primed. Tyres and tubes are good. The Rudder and tail-plane need a few repairs and since this is the first time in the aircraft's life that it has been disassembled, stripped and inspected, the control cables all need replacing. (originals will be supplied). Circumstantial evidence also indicates that it would be sensible to have the engine overhauled before use.
The fuselage repair work is largely centered at the cockpit/firewall/floor and parcel shelf and the fin needs recovering with the 2mm ply (supplied). A full set of Drawings from Arthur Ord-Hume are also included.
A change in personal circumstances prompts the sale of this project but I would like it to go to someone who will complete the renovation, see it in the air again and enjoy it.
The fuselage and wing are in the hangar in Fife whilst I live in Monifieth, Dundee.
