SOLD - THANK YOU AFORS
I am reluctantly selling my lovely Grumman AA1B.
G-BERY is a 1970 AA1B which was fully restored and re-painted by the UK main Grumman spares dealer in 2018. I have owned it since then and further upgraded the aircraft with full IFR instrument panel. The AA1 has similar capabilities to a C152 but with more sporting looks and performance. I currently use the aircraft for business and pleasure as a cross country machine, a role for which it is ideally suited.
Instrument fit:
Trig TY96 8.33khz radio
Trig TT31 Mode S transponder
King KLN94 certificated panel mount GPS with CDI indicator
King KR87 silver crown ADF
Narco MK12D Nav/Com with VOR, ILS, DME, and emergency backup 25khz radio
Performance:
Takeoff distance 490m to clear 50’ (MTOW, ISA, nil wind, tarmac)
Typical cruise 100-120mph (85-105kts)
MTOW 709kg, empty weight 507kg, Fuel capacity 83L
Routinely delivers 18 lph economy and 4 hour endurance when flown one-up at 100mph.
Airframe hours 3925, Engine hours 1755 (2400 hrs TBO), will increase as flown.
Annual until June 2022, last 50hr check Nov 2021.
Sale includes an old but serviceable cockpit and engine cover and a tiedown set.
Regardless of what you might read on the internet, this B-model AA1 is straightforward to fly and an absolute blast to handle, with a light controls and a sparkling roll rate. Although I use it as a tourer it is Utility category so cleared for lazy eights and chandelles. You are welcome to fly the aircraft before purchase – I’m an instructor so you can pay the operating costs and log the flight as Pu/t. I’m also happy to provide ‘conversion training’ after purchase if you want to become more confident on type. Currently located at Thurrock airfield in Essex.
