This modified 1995 PFA Award Winning Aircraft is being sold as a return to flight project, which today sits as a 100% complete aircraft with full documentation, history and log books. The aircraft was last flown in 2007 for its permit renewal before being placed into dry storage by the then owner for personal reasons.
In 2018 it was sold to the current owner whose plans have now changed. The engine has been recommissioned with video footage available on Youtube (See G-BGTD Rand KR2), the VW 1915 cc engine with dual electronic ignition was rebuilt with a new engine block at the last permit inspection and has run for less than four hours since which includes the recommissioning ground runs. Total airframe time is 316 hours, the engine has 213 hours from new and is fitted with a Chris Lodge 129 52" x 45". With a basic weight of 612 lbs and a maximum authorised weight of 900 lbs the aircraft has a good load capacity. Although the aircraft was built and flown as a two seater, for many years the central stick configuration lends itself to single seat conversion if required.
The turtle deck modification was part of the original build process and it gives the aircraft a modern look even today. The aircraft is actually much prettier than many of the newer light sport aircraft currently on the market and is much better looking than a standard KR2 or Sonex.
The price reflects the condition of the aircraft which will require minimal expenditure on parts and materials and is virtually a labour only project. G-BGTD is securely dry stored in Ammanford, Carmarthenshire and prospective buyers are invited to bring their LAA inspector or engineer to survey the aircraft. We are looking for serious individuals who are enthusiastic about returning this pretty little aircraft to the air, time wasters and dreamers will be turned away.
