I have owned this lovely example of the Sherwood Ranger for 2 years and I have had some great flying in it.
The previous owner had the CAMit crank mod fitted with many new parts.
The aircraft was built in 2006 with Jabiru 2200, 300 hours total
Hurcules prop with 20 hours since new.
I had to take the engine off last year and send to CAMit Aero Engines, as, with Jabiru engines there is the cooling issue. It had a new piston ring and cylinder fitted on number 3 at some cost. I have the engine back and it has been inhibited and is stored in engine box. The fuselage has always been hangered. Unfortunately due to personal reasons I am unable to complete the rebuild and remount the engine and sort the cooling issue any longer.
The engine is good to go but to prevent overheat again it will need some work to sort cooling and I believe TLAC have worked on previous Sherwood rangers with Jabs and have rectified the cooling issue so are a good point of contact.
Cruises at 60 kts burning 16 litres per hour.
Trig 8.33 radio.
Will need a new permit. Although the aircraft is permitted by the LAA its weights actually fits it into the microlight category so this can be flown on a microlight licence.
Very stable and a delight to fly.
The Sherwood Ranger benefits from having a wing fold storage design so takes up little hanger space
Hangered in Kent
