Garmin 296, works perfectly when hard wired (I've only ever used it wired in) as the battery is now dead. New batteries are available on the internet for around £40.
No marks, scuffs or damage of any kind. Those that know about the 296 know it is a very good GPS with a solid reliable history. Take a look at its online reviews.
It's a colour aviation portable GPS with built-in terrain mapping and alerting.
The 296 comes with a detailed built-in Jeppesen database, but as I haven't used it for a while the database would benefit from an update. Using this information, the 296 provides detailed views of your flight route, displayed over realistic topography. For added safety, you can put the unit in Terrain mode for TAWS-like warnings and alerts when proximity conflicts loom ahead.
It will come with most airfields loaded from the CAA 1:500,000 southern England chart plus a few other farm fields. It also comes with an external USB GPS mouse for enhanced position finding, a wall charger, a 12v charging lead and a USB data exchange cable.
