I am selling my Sportavia Putzer Elster C, with a working Lycoming O320 A2B engine. The aircraft has been 75% restored, with repairs to the wooden fuselage and paint, as well as restoration of the wings and new fabric covering. The engine has been overhauled, tested, and runs perfectly. This aircraft can be considered historic, as it is No. 2 of the entire series built. No. 1 was destroyed during test trials by the manufacturer PUTZER in 1955.
This model was commissioned by the new German Luftwaffe after World War II to produce a trainer aircraft for future German Air Force pilots. Around 57 units were built, of which very few remain in flying condition, and this is the oldest of them all. The German registration was lost more than 12 years ago. Before being grounded, this aircraft was towing gliders in Spain, but it was decided to restore it, and since it was disassembled for that purpose, it has not flown again.
For personal reasons, I am unable to continue with the restoration to bring it back to flying condition. There really isn’t much left to do: reinstall the instrument panel, check the brakes, and assemble the wings and tail. In Spain, it is very complicated to obtain the airworthiness documents for it to fly again, which is why I believe it will be easier in the UK or another European country. I do not have a financial interest, but I would really like to see the aircraft fly again. I am open to negotiating the price. The aircraft is currently hangared in southern Spain.
