Wilco Aviation is delighted to exclusively present this Turbo Charged Rockwell Commander 112 TC, currently based in the South of England. This aircraft is powered by a low-hour Lycoming TO-360-C1A6D 210 HP turbocharged engine.
Known as Tango Golf, this plane not only features a low-hour engine but also boasts an almost newly overhauled Hartzell propeller and a recent avionics upgrade that includes a combined Avidyne and Aspen suite.
The Rockwell Commander 112 is an American four-seat, single-engine general aviation aircraft designed and built by North American Rockwell (later Rockwell International) starting in 1972. The 1976 Commander line introduced the Commander 112TC, equipped with a 210 HP turbocharged engine and a maximum takeoff weight (MTOW) of 2,850 lbs. The 112TC offers a significantly improved cruise speed of 160 knots (180 mph or 300 km/h) at higher altitudes, up to 20,000 feet (6,100 m), thanks to a 32-inch (810 mm) increase in wingspan.
The 112 features a conventional monoplane layout with a low-set main wing and a mid-mounted horizontal stabilizer, positioning the stabilizer outside the prop wash for better handling at lower speeds. The cabin, measuring 47 inches (1,200 mm) wide and 49 inches (1,200 mm) high, is more spacious than contemporary aircraft like the Piper Arrow, which has a cabin width of 41 inches (1,000 mm) and a height of 38 inches (970 mm). The 112 also has a full-sized door on both sides, unlike most aircraft in its class, which typically have one full-sized passenger door and a smaller pilot door.
The low-mounted wing features significant dihedral and fully faired retractable main landing gear, utilizing a trailing-link design for additional travel and softer landings, even in less-than-perfect conditions. The wings and fuselage were constructed using innovative methods that assemble sections as complete units rather than riveting many individual parts, resulting in fewer rivets than contemporary designs. The 1976 modifications included redesigned and repositioned air scoops for a slight performance boost, while the extended wingtips reduced the stall speed from 62 mph (100 km/h) to 58 mph (93 km/h).
This fully IFR-capable aircraft has had all Airworthiness Directives (ADs) and Service Bulletins (SBs) complied with.
