The V35B is the final refinement of the Beech Bonanza design, which was manufactured from 1970 to 1982, with over 10,000 units produced. N30VT is a 1973 model, upgraded with the Tornado Alley Whirlwind III STC. This modification allows it to achieve sea-level power up to FL200 with cool engine temperatures. It is a $67,000-plus upgrade that enhances performance and appeals to specific pilots. The Tornado Alley website provides detailed testimonials from Bonanza owners who have upgraded their aircraft and outlines the performance figures that can be achieved.
On a recent IFR flight from Ireland to Germany at FL150, this example attained 178 Ktas at 65% power, consuming 13.2 US gallons per hour. Speeds of 195 Ktas are possible at 85% power. The 120 USG tank capacity allows for a range of 1500 nm in still air. The Turbo Normalisation kit and three-blade propeller contribute to a centre of gravity of 78.13”. The useful load is 1237 lbs, higher than a stock V35B due to Osborne tip tanks, which increase the Maximum Take-off Weight (MTOW) by 200 lbs.
N30VT has a total time of 3360 hours TTAF, with 580 hours since the factory remanufactured engine was fitted in 2016. There are 107 hours on the McCauley three-blade hot propeller. The aircraft has complete logs since new and is IFR certified until June 2026. The next annual inspection is due on 31st March 2025, and the six previous inspections were completed at Aero Tech in Coventry. This aircraft was originally delivered to Swiss owners by ferry pilot Louise Sacchi in 1973 and was privately owned in Switzerland by three owners before coming to Ireland.
