The SIAI-Marchetti S.205 is an Italian light aircraft designed to seat four people and powered by a single engine. Manufactured by SIAI-Marchetti, this particular model comes with the added option of a fifth seat. The S.205 first took to the skies in 1965, and a variant known as the S.208 is still in use by the Italian Air Force.

The S.205 was conceived by SIAI-Marchetti’s chief designer, Alexander Brena, in 1964. His goal was to create a versatile, lightweight aircraft. The result was an all-metal, low-wing, single-engine plane capable of carrying four to five passengers.

Around 65 fuselages were shipped to Syracuse, New York, for assembly by the Waco Aircraft Company. However, production was halted after the passing of the company’s president, Mr. Berger.

The basic version of the S.205 is a metal, single-engine aircraft with four seats. The “F” variant features a fixed undercarriage, while the “R” variant, like the G-VELA, is equipped with a retractable undercarriage.
