I have decided to put my Merlin (G-CJTD) up for sale to fund my next aircraft. I purchased the Merlin as a kit in December 2016 and it had its first flight on the first of August 2017.
The Merlin is an all-metal high wing SSDR microlight, powered by a Rotax 582 Blue Top with a little over 100 hours on both engine and airframe. The engine has oil injection, and this gives a precise measure of oil thus eliminating pre-mixing over oiling errors. The hours will increase as I am flying it as often as I can.
The Merlin is a very capable short-field aircraft demonstrated by the fact I operated from a farm strip in Northumberland with only 260 metre runways. I have recently re-located the Merlin to a farm strip 6 miles further north where there are three grass runways all over 500 metres in length.
The controls of the Merlin are well balanced and responsive, The Merlin is an easy aircraft to fly and as it is a single seat aircraft the pilot view is impressive with all controls ergonomically located. There are hydraulic disc brakes on the main wheels operated by an easily reached hand lever in front of the throttle lever. My Merlin cruises happily at 5000rpm and indicates 80/85mph. The average fuel burn is approximately 13 litres an hour and this should give 2.5 hours flying time with half an hour reserve. There are two wing tanks each holding 21 litres of fuel.
The American dealer Chip Erwin https://www.aeromarine-lsa.com/ has produced loads of videos and are well worth watching to get an overall impression of the Merlin.
All relevant documents are up-to date.
As with everything the price can be negotiated however the aircraft will come with the installed Trig radio and transponder and Pilot Aware if the asking price is achieved.
