Rallye Minerva MS- 9 37500
Rugged landing gear with big wheels absorbs a badly judged landing without breaking anything compare with an ultra light with small wheels that catches every rabbit hole and results in high bills).
Automatic operating slats on the wing leading edges gives a remarkable slow speed performance. The aircraft is virtually un-stallable.
This aircraft has the big engine option, 220 hp Franklin (six cylinders) known as the Minerva. Only 6 examples of the Minerva are on the UK register.
With the big engine and slats, the aircraft is ideal for short grass strips. 120 metres for take-off. More important is with long or wet grass or cross-wind or a slight up-hill, the aircraft with all that power and a constant speed prop still lifts off with confidence.
The aircraft can also pull a glider or banner hook not currently fitted).
This aircraft is fitted with optional long range fuel tanks total 220 litres (avgas). (It may be possible to use Mogas).
Book figure is 130 knots, but I use economical settings which gives 95 knots.
Aircraft was built in 1972. Airframe hours are only 1,500 hours.
The original engine was replaced in the year 2000 for a new unit. Engine hours are only 340 hours. NEW-NEW-NEW. Prop 7 hours since complete overhaul by Brinkley.
Some people consider this aircraft type prone to corrosion. No corrosion has been found in this one. In 2004 it was given anti-corrosion spray treatment. Trig mode S (model TT21).
2 radio Narco, ILS, VOR, ADF, DME, antenna for GPS.
