Silvaire 8E

Anyone who has dreams of owning a beautiful Classic aircraft will surely be attracted by the new low price of this unique and pristine example.

Wilco Aviation is excited to present this immaculate Luscombe Silvaire 8E for sale. Exclusively listed with us, G-LUSC is situated at its private home base near Husbands Bosworth.

If you’re in the market for a Luscombe that has undergone a comprehensive restoration from the ground up, sparing you the concerns of extensive future maintenance, this aircraft surpasses even factory-new standards!

The award-winning G-LUSC underwent a meticulous restoration in 2016, encompassing a full nut, bolt, and rivet refurbishment. Every exterior panel of the aircraft has been replaced and meticulously polished, resulting in the radiant mirror finish it boasts today.

Every single component underwent either overhaul or replacement, rendering this aircraft a “New Classic” devoid of the typical issues associated with vintage aircraft.

A comprehensive list detailing the parts and work undertaken is available upon request, complete with photographic evidence showcasing the exacting nature of the restoration.

The original Continental C-85 engine was zero-timed, and since the restoration, both the engine and airframe have logged a mere 22 hours of flight time.

Luscombe history

The Luscombe 8 series comprises high-wing, side-by-side-seating monoplanes with conventional landing gear, originally designed in 1937 and manufactured by Luscombe Aircraft.

Following the closure of Luscombe Aircraft in 1949, Temco Aircraft, based in the US, acquired its assets. Temco produced around 50 Silvaires before transferring the rights to the Silvaire Aircraft Corporation in 1955.

Silvaire Aircraft Corporation: Upon TEMCO ceasing production, Otis Massey, a Luscombe dealer since the 1930s, purchased the Luscombe tooling, parts, and other assets. His new venture, Silvaire Uranium and Aircraft Corp., was established in Fort Collins, Colorado. From 1956 to 1961, the company produced 80 aircraft under the designation Silvaire 8F, with “Luscombe” indicated in quotation marks in its promotional materials. The first aircraft, N9900C, serial number S-1, was constructed in 1956 using spare or serviceable Material Review Board (MRB) parts left over from TEMCO’s previous production. N9900C’s maiden flight occurred on September 10, 1956. In 1957, six aircraft were built, two of which were shipped to Buenos Aires, Argentina.

In 2019, Testrake Aviation acquired the assets of the Luscombe Corporation with intentions to recommence production of the Luscombe 8.
