DA2a £20,000

Davis DA2a G-BPFL – solid, reliable, fast and fun.

Rare and well-maintained Group A aircraft, covering aircraft in LAA Magazine September 2016, also Pilot Magazine in August 2002.

No damage or accident history, always flown, always hangered; heated hangar for the last 14 years maintaining good airframe and engine conditions. I am the third owner; the only aircraft of its type outside of USA and Canada, plus one in New Zealand. A rarity but very easy to maintain using standard parts.

Airframe - No corrosion, solid over-engineered all-metal airframe. Nav lights and Strobe. Total time 2040 hrs.

Engine - Continental O-200 100hp with Hercules propellor. Good compressions (70-75/80 on all four cylinders), little oil consumption - rarely topped up between annuals, lightweight starter, Concord battery, starts on first crank and runs beautifully, never any issues. Total time - 1,365hrs with Top End rebuild - 312hrs ago. Full borescope each year by engineer.

Cockpit – Easily accommodates 6-foot 3-inches pax, plenty of space for 2x 80kgs pax or equivalent with good sized luggage bay behind seats (max 20kgs). Full 6-pack, Dittel KRT2 8.33 radio, Garmin GTX 327 transponder, central RAM mount for ipad, USB sockets, analogue engine management, 4-point Hooker Harnesses. A comfortable ride with good visibility.

Performance – Upgraded 12-inch wing extensions delivering better climb and AUW performance compared to the original design (MAUW now 563kgs). Cruise 110kts, Stall 55kts, climb 600fpm at max weight, 800fpm with solo pilot. Handling characteristics are similar to a PA28; fun and easy to fly. 76ltr fuel capacity; 100kts at 20lph, 110kts at 22-24lph. Can operate on 400-500 metres strip.

Engineering - This aircraft has benefitted from an LAA inspector who is a CAA Aircraft Engineer and has scrutinised everything; together we have upgraded most components. Permit July 2026.

I have been the sole owner since 2011 and I have treated it with great care. I have toured most of the UK and taken it to the south of France a number of times. I will be very happy to show a prospective buyer around the aircraft and paperwork. Based southeast of Oxford.

Reduced price, now £20k. WhatsApp or phone call. Thank you, Pete
